What each part of the planning process does

Wayward Route gives you a starting itinerary: daily driving estimates, federal campground options, booking links, and places to consider along the way. The free preview lets you review coverage and the first day before buying. The purchased plan adds every day, revisions, a booking checklist, sharing, and PDF.

RV LIFE Trip Wizard and Roadtrippers also offer trip planning. If you already use one, a Wayward Route plan can be a reference for the overnight sequence you enter there. Decide whether that starting structure is useful to you by reviewing the sample and your free preview.

Prepare your stops before the handoff

Use confirmed campground entrances, not just a town name or a map pin in the middle of a park. Keep optional outings separate until you have checked parking and access for your rig.

  1. Review campground coverage and resolve missing overnights.
  2. Check availability, rig fit, and arrival instructions directly with each campground, then book.
  3. List each booked campground in overnight order with its date and entrance address.
  4. Keep your Wayward Route plan or downloaded PDF open while you enter those stops in your chosen app.

Using RV LIFE Trip Wizard and the RV LIFE app

Create a trip in Trip Wizard, add your start and confirmed overnight destinations, and review their order and dates. Set the RV information and routing preferences for the rig you will actually drive.

RV LIFE documents navigation of Trip Wizard trips through the RV LIFE app. That connection is within RV LIFE's own products; entering your Wayward Route stops into Trip Wizard is manual. Follow RV LIFE's current instructions and review each day's route before departure.

Using Roadtrippers

Create a trip and use Add a Stop to enter your confirmed destinations. Review the stop order, dates, and routing options. Roadtrippers documents RV dimensions and RV-friendly navigation options; check the current plan requirements in its own documentation.

Roadtrippers currently describes navigation as point to point rather than continuous multi-stop navigation. Review the next destination before launching directions and use its documented RV settings when applicable. Manually entering stops from Wayward Route does not carry over a checked road geometry or your rig settings.

Reconcile the new route before driving

A navigation app may choose different roads and travel times from Wayward Route's car-route estimate. Compare each leg with your booked arrival times, leave room for breaks, and revise the itinerary if the drive changes materially.

Check road notices, vehicle restrictions, campground access, and current conditions. No handoff confirms campsite availability or guarantees road suitability. RV LIFE and Roadtrippers are independent services; Wayward Route is not affiliated with either.

Common questions

Can I export Wayward Route directly to RV LIFE or Roadtrippers?

There is no direct integration, trip sync, or GPX export. Use your itinerary or PDF as a reference and manually add your confirmed stops in your chosen app.

Will the navigation app use the same roads and driving times?

It may choose different roads, especially after you configure your rig and route preferences. Compare the new daily drive with your booked arrival times before leaving.
